About the planner
How the plan is built, and why it picks each step, is explained on the about page.
How far ahead should I plan a book launch?
If your files are ready, the planner suggests about 14 weeks. That leaves time to request a Library of Congress number before publication, put the ebook on preorder and give advance readers several weeks with the book. If the manuscript is still in editing, it suggests about 24 weeks.
Can I put my paperback on preorder on Amazon?
Not through KDP. Amazon's KDP help says preorders are available for ebooks only, not paperbacks or hardcovers. KDP lets you schedule a print release date up to 90 days ahead instead, but the page stays hidden until then. IngramSpark handles print preorders through its on-sale date.
What does the plan include?
A dated list of tasks for every week from your start week to 12 weeks after launch, warnings where your date is too close for a step, your three most important moves, and buttons to print it, copy it as text or download it as a calendar file.
Is my plan saved?
Your answers and the tasks you tick off are saved in this browser only, using local storage, so the plan is there when you come back. Nothing is sent to anyone unless you fill in the optional form.
I already published. Is this still useful?
Yes. Choose "Already published" and set the date of your relaunch push. The planner drops the setup steps that only work before publication and builds a plan around reviews, your book page, media and your list.
